Scór Sinnsir 2012

Posted by admin April - 23 - 2012 - Monday ADD COMMENTS

Scór Sinnsir 2012:  Lady Luck wasn’t on our side on Saturday when we competed in the All-Ireland set-dancing final in the INEC, Killarney.  Almost fifty supporters from Bun travelled the long distance in support of the group, who put on a great performance.  We were in hope until “the final whistle” and there was disappointment among the “Bun Machine” when Glenfesk, Co. Kerry were announced the winners.  So close was the competition that any of the groups could have been in the winners’ enclosure.  Congratulations to Veronica, Ruth, Ciara, Aimee, Séamus, Robbie, Shane and Chris on reaching the final and being County and Leinster champions.  Thanks for the great enjoyment that we had from their performances and those of our other Scór participants throughout the season.  Good set-dancing needs good music and Bun had that in abundance.  Thank you to our
excellent musicians who also provided the music for the figure dance group from St Mary’s Ck-on-Shannon.  Iarmhí had three other acts in the
final.

Congratulations to Peter Dolan on his great achievement in taking the Aithriseoireacht title for the second time.  Peter is from the Moate All Whites club.  Well done also to Jenny McNamee (The Downs) and to the Novelty act group from Castletown-Geo, who both must feel very disappointed in the results.
Thanks to all from the county who travelled in support of all teams especially the large and noisy contingent from Bun.  All support is greatly appreciated.

A great weekend was had by all and concluded in Tormey’s on Sunday night with a reception hosted by the football club.  Thanks to them, to Hugh Tormey for the use of
his premises, and to our many sponsors and those who supported the fund-raiser at Easter.  All is greatly appreciated.

Senior Championship

Posted by admin April - 23 - 2012 - Monday ADD COMMENTS

Senior Championship:  Shandonagh was the venue for our first championship game on Friday last when we played Coralstown/Kinnegad.  The team approached this game with hope of a
good result but as the game progressed it became apparent that we were facing stiff and strong opposition.  At the final whistle Kinnegad were victors by a good margin.  Improvement will be needed if we are to have any hope of staying in the senior ranks.
